Frames FAQ
I have a 4x6 sized picture. What size frame do I need?
|
The 4x6 size! Simply match the size description of the frame with your picture size. So if you're looking to get our Event Easel, get the Event Easel 4x6. It's common for smart people to try and compensate for the larger frame dimensions and think that maybe a 5x7 frame is for the 4x6 picture inserted, but there's no need for that. Just keep it simple. 5x7 frame accepts a 5x7 photo, an 8x10 frame accepts and 8x10 photo, etc, etc. Of course, outside frame dimensions will always be larger. For example the outside dimensions of the Whitehouse Folder 5x7 is actually 7"x9" with the viewable area being 4.5"x6.5".

What's the difference between a 5x7 and a 7x5 frame? |
It's a way to distinguish between a Vertical (portrait) and Horizontal (landscape) frame. For example, for a 5x7 frame, the first number ('5') is the left to right dimension of your picture, and the second number ('7') the up and down dimension. Because the up and down dimension is larger in this case, it's considered a vertical frame. And a horizontal frame would be the 7x5 frame. Of course, this "Vertical vs. Horizontal" difference really only applies to folders. This is because easels do not have a cover and you can simply rotate the frame either vertically or horizontally to suit your needs. Thus the easels are almost always dual-purpose (vertical and horizontal). Folders on the other hand a little more complicated. We often say that we need a 4x6 folder frame but we actually might be better off with a 6x4 if you have a landscape (e.g. a group shot).
